Digital Media Services (DMS) provides video production and digitization
to faculty, staff, and departments at UT. Digitization services include scanning of paper and negative-based materials
into electronic text or digital images; capture of analog audio and
videotapes; and encoding/transcoding of audio and video for streaming. Streaming audio and video is hosted on DMS' Mediasite server and made
available to faculty and students via catalog URLs that link to the
streaming titles. Other digital content is delivered via e-mail. CD/DVD duplication is also available at DMS.
DMS also offers a full line of video production services in
support of instruction.
Faculty who produce their own video content can
use the My Mediasite video portal to host and share video content. Video can
be uploaded to the portal from desktops, laptops, iOS devices and Android
devices. My Mediasite's companion application, the Mediasite Desktop Recorder,
allows users to record presentations at their desktop or laptop and publish
them to DMS' streaming server. For users requiring a higher level of production assistance DMS
can handle the entire project from scripting through the final edit.
DMS administers the iTunes U server which allows faculty to upload and store audio, video, and text to public iTunesU sites. iTunes U materials are publicly accessible to users through the iTunes U application. Audio/video on the iTunes U server is downloadable.
Services for instructional materials are
provided at no cost to faculty members. Digitization and storage of media
for non-instructional uses are available to UT faculty, departments, and
staff at competitive rates.
