Bridging the Distance With Technology
Dr. Sebastien Dubreil, Assistant Professor in French, Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures
Dr. Dubreil has been an avid proponent of using technology in the classroom for quite some time. As a French professor, he is always seeking the best way to help students learn both the language and the culture of another country, focusing on the differences as well as the similarities between American culture and the culture studies. To achieve this goal he uses technology to bridge the physical distance between the country in which the students live and the one(s) about which they are studying.
With the creation of Modern Foreign Languages and Literature’s new Learning Resource Center, Dubreil has further expanded his use of technology in the classroom, and encourages his students to become more autonomous and learn to collaborate in order to enhance their learning even beyond the classroom and/or class period.
