Student Assistant, Instructional Support: Technical Writer


The University of Tennessee’s Office of Information Technology Instructional Support and Training Team is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of OIT Student Assistant as a technical writer. This position will support technology on campus through technical writing, social media posts, and creating training. This individual must have, excellent communication (verbal and written); time management skills; ability to work independently and with groups; strong Microsoft Office skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; and the ability to quickly learn and explain new technology.

The Student Assistant for OIT Instructional Support is an hourly-paid position open for UTK students who are available to work 10-20 hours per week. Starting pay is $9.00/hour.

Duties include:

  • Writing step-by-step instructions
  • Creating simple graphics
  • Assisting in creating instructional videos
  • Writing social media posts
  • Answering tickets under the guidance of a trainer for MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word (on-the-job training is provided)
  • Assisting instructors with technology in classrooms including Wolfvision Cynap, document cameras, projectors. (Students will be trained to use the classroom technology)
