Graduate Teaching Assistant in Teaching and Learning Technologies

This Graduate Teaching Assistantship, which is a twelve-month, half-time appointment, carries a stipend and a waiver of tuition and maintenance fees, including the summer session. A half-time Graduate Teaching Assistant works twenty hours per week and is expected to work spring, summer, and fall semesters.

The Graduate Teaching Assistant provides technology support to staff, faculty, and students. Duties may include several of the following:

  • Supporting staff, faculty, and students as they engage Online@UT (Canvas) for teaching and learning
  • Developing and maintaining instructional support materials for staff, faculty, and students
  • Assisting with the design and development of non-credit/non-degree certificate courses offered via Canvas Catalog


Applicants must be team-oriented and possess a strong background in communication, customer support, technical support, or another relevant discipline. Additional qualifications include:

  • Willingness to learn new applications, develop troubleshooting skills, and the ability to multi-task assignments/responsibilities  
  • Ability to communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and students via phone, email, and video/audio web conferencing tools, such as Zoom and MS Teams
