VPN Client "Show Me" Files
The VPN Client "show me" files allow you to watch videos (picture and sound) that demonstrate the steps needed to download, install and use the VPN Client. The VPN Client will allow you access to UT's Virtual Private Network enabling you to use campus resources from a remote location. You must have a valid NetID and password in order to download and use the VPN Client software. The VPN client is available for Windows, Macintosh, Solaris, and Linux systems.
Downloading and Installing the VPN Client. This video demonstrates downloading and installing UT's VPN Client Software in a Windows environment (installation steps will be slightly different for other operating systems). To get started, go to https://support.utk.edu/VPN/2-1login.asp. You will be prompted for your NetID and password, then prompted to download three files - the VPN client appropriate for your operating system, a help file, and the configuration file. Note: In this demo, the antivirus software is McAfee Antivirus (available free to UT Faculty/Staff and Students) and the zip software is WinZip. You may want to consult the help files of your software packages if you use different software on your machine.
Using the VPN Client. This video demonstrates how to run the VPN client in a Windows environment. It also demonstrates the login process and how to disconnect from the network when you have finished using UT network resources. Play time: 1 min 47 sec.
