CBT "Show Me" Files

The CBT "show me" files allow you to watch videos with sound that include step by step instructions for downloading, installing, and using OIT's Computer-Based Training. To access the CBTs, you must be registered for an account. An instructor can request CBT accounts for an entire class or you may request an account on your own. To register, go to http://oit.utk.edu/cbt/register.html.

Introduction to Computer-Based Training. This video demonstrates how to locate UT's CBT information and view the catalog of courses available. It also points out registration information and various help options. Play time: 2 min 44 sec.

Download and Install the CBT Plug in. This video demonstrates how to download and install the CBT Plugin. This step is necessary to run CBT on a personal computer. The plugin is already installed in all OIT labs. To get the plugin, go to http://socrates.cas.utk.edu/Dynamo/gettingstarted.htm, then download the classic content player. Play time: 3 min 22 sec.

Accessing CBT Courses. This video demonstrates how to log in to the CBT SmartForce and explains the interface. The video also demonstrates navigation within the course modules for both classic and e-learning course content. Play time: 7 min 53 sec.

Accessing CBT Progress Reports and Assessment Tests. This video demonstrates how to view the progress reports that have information including start dates, percent completed, test scores, and test dates. It also demonstrates how to access and complete tests in both the classic and e-learning course content. A certificate of completion is available for any course passed with a score of 70% or higher. There are two ways you can use the videos. First, you can watch them, then later practice these activities within your own account. Alternatively, you can complete the activities while watching the video by using the Pause button on the video player. All videos do have sound so you may need a headset to if viewing in a lab.
