OIT HelpDesk

Contact OIT HelpDesk with any questions that you might have about email, computers, the UT network, or other OIT services.

Instructional Development

OIT offers development assistance of course components and instructional materials including text, images, audio, video, animation, and interactive learning elements. Consultation is available for an array of teaching and technology solutions such as course design and development, multimedia development, assessment strategies, communication and collaboration tools, and website development.

OIT Course Delivery

The Course Delivery service manages and provides support for two course delivery systems:

  • Online@UT powered by Canvas, an online learning management system that provides tools for document distribution, communication, and assessment, as well as a host of other tools to encourage course participation.
  • LiveOnline@UT, a UT-branded name for the Zoom software that is used to deliver live, interactive classes via the Internet. Support and contact information for LiveOnline@UT (Zoom).

OIT Digital Media Services

Digital Media Services (DMS) will digitize, store and deliver your audio, video, text, and images for instructional use. Files are made available to faculty and students via web links to the digitized media.

DMS also manages iTunes U, a free hosted service for educational media. Instructors (and if permission is granted, students) can directly upload audio, video, and text content to an iTunesU collection. Instructors choose whether to make files public or to restrict the access.

OIT Training

OIT offers workshops and training programs to help faculty and GTAs enhanced teaching and strengthen instructional technology skills. Workshops cover Online@UT/Blackboard Learn, LiveOnline@UT/Blackboard Collaborate, technology-enhanced classrooms, media development, and more.

Tennessee Teaching and Learning Center (Tenn TLC)

TENN TLC works with UTK instructors to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge, support the application of active and engaged learning strategies in student-oriented environments, and reinforce the concept of co-creation of value in the learning process.
