Norton AntiVirus Removal Instructions for Windows XP

Before beginning the registration process, you must REMOVE ANY NON-UT ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE before proceeding. For instructions on removing the program, please see the instructions below.

1. Click the Start button then Control Panel.

(For Windows 2000, click Start then Settings then Control Panel).

2. Select Add or Remove Programs.

3. Follow the directions below for the version of Norton Antivirus software you wish to uninstall:

Norton SystemWorks 2002

a.) First, click on the Norton SystemWorks 2002 program name, then click the Remove button that appears.

b.) When prompted ?Are you sure you want to delete Norton SystemWorks 2002,? click Yes.

c.) Wait while Norton is being removed from your computer.

d.) Second, remove the LiveUpdate 1.x (Symantec Corporation) program from your computer.

e.) Select the program name and click on the Change/Remove button.

f.) When prompted ?Are you sure you want to delete Norton Live Update,? click Yes.

g.) Click OK ? LiveUpdate has been uninstalled successfully.

h.) Last, remove the LiveReg (Symantec Corporation) program.

i.) Select the program name and click on the Remove button.

j.) Click OK ? LiveReg has been uninstalled successfully.

k.) Restart your computer.

This completes the removal instructions for Norton SystemWorks 2002.

Norton SystemWorks 2003

a.) First, click on the LiveUpdate 1.x (Symantec Corporation) program name.

b.) Click on Change/Remove.

c.) Click Yes, when prompted with ?Are you sure you want to remove LiveUpdate??

d.) Click OK, after LiveUpdate has been uninstalled successfully.

e.) Next, click on the Norton SystemWorks 2003 program name, then click the Change button that appears.

f.) Select Remove, then click Next.

g.) Click Next again.

h.) Wait while Norton SystemWorks 2003 is being removed from your computer.

i.) Click Yes to restart your computer.

This completes the removal instructions for Norton SystemWorks 2003.

Norton SystemWorks 2004

a.) First, click on the Norton SystemWorks 2004 program name, then click the Remove button.

b.) Click Remove All.

c.) Click Next, to start the removal.

d.) Click Yes to remove all personal information.

e.) Click Yes again when prompted ?Are you sure you wish to continue??

f.) Wait while ?Components are being uninstalled.?

g.) Click Finish, making sure Restart Windows Now is selected.

h.) After Windows has Restarted, click Start, Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs again.

i.) Second, click on LiveReg (Symantec Corporation) then click the Remove button.

j.) Click Yes.

l.) Next, remove the LiveUpdate 1.x (Symantec Corporation) program from your computer.

m.) Select the program name and click on the Change/Remove button.

n.) Click Yes, when prompted ?Are you sure you want to delete Norton LiveUpdate.?

k.) Click OK ? LiveUpdate has been uninstalled successfully.

This completes the removal instructions for Norton SystemWorks 2004.

Norton Internet Security 2003

a.) First, remove the LiveUpdate 1.x (Symantec Corporation) program from your computer.

b.) Select the program name and click on the Change/Remove button.

c.) Click Yes, when prompted ?Are you sure you want to delete Norton LiveUpdate.?

d.) Click OK ? LiveUpdate has been uninstalled successfully.

e.) Next, click on Norton Internet Security 2003, then click on the Change button.

f.) Click Yes, when prompted ?Are you sure you want to delete Norton Internet Security from your computer?.?

g.) Click Remove All.

h.) Click Next.

i.) Click Next again, to remove Norton Internet Security.

j.) Wait while Norton is being uninstalled.

k.) Click Finish.

l.) Click Yes to restart your computer.

This completes the removal instructions for Norton Internet Security 2003.

Norton Antivirus 2002

a.) First, remove the LiveUpdate 1.x (Symantec Corporation) program from your computer.

b.) Select the program name and click on the Change/Remove button.

c.) Click Yes, when prompted ?Are you sure you want to delete Norton LiveUpdate.?

d.) Click OK.

e.) Next, click on Norton AntiVirus 2002, then click on the Remove button.

f.) Click Yes, when prompted ?Are you sure you want to delete Norton Antivirus??

g.) Click Yes to restart your computer.

This completes the removal instructions for Norton Antivirus 2002.

Norton Antivirus 2004

a.) First, remove the LiveUpdate 1.x (Symantec Corporation) program from your computer.

b.) Select the program name and click on the Change/Remove button.

c.) Click Yes, when prompted ?Are you sure you want to delete Norton LiveUpdate.?

d.) Click OK.

e.) Next, click on Norton AntiVirus 2004, then click on the Change button.

f.) Click Remove All.

g.) Click Next, to start the removal.

j.) Wait while ?Components are being uninstalled.?

l.) Click Finish, making sure Restart Windows Now is selected.

m.) Your computer will now restart.

This completes the removal instructions for Norton Antivirus 2004.
