Windows XP Long Distance ERA Instructions |

Step 1: Go to the start menu and open Control Panel Note: Some users will need to select settings and then control panel. Step 2: Open the Network Connections Control Panel Note: Some Windows XP users may need to change the view in order to view the network connections by clicking the "switch to classic view" text on the left Step 3: Click create new connection on the left Step 4: The box below should appear and you will need to click Next Step 5: The following box will appear and the "connect to Internet" dialog will already be selected. Click Next. Step 6: From the box that appears below, select Setup up my connection manually and Click Next Step 7: In the next box, "Connect using a dial-up modem" should already be selected if not select it and click Next. Step 8: The next box asks you to name the ISP (or connection). Enter "UT Long Distance" and click Next. Step 9: In the "Phone Number" field, enter "18009743170,,,,,,,,XXXXXXXXXXXX#,,,,,,,,8659468657". In place of the X's put in your 12 digit account number from the back of your calling card (don't forget the pound sign) and click Next. Note: Make sure that you enter eight commas between the 1800 number and your account number as well as between your account number and the UT ERA number. Step 10: Enter your NetID and password, confirmyour password, and uncheck all of the boxes. Click Next. Step 11: If you wish to add the connection to your desktop, check the "add a shortcut" box then click Finish. If not just click the Finish button. Remember to only use this connection when connecting to the UT network from out of town, otherwise your calling card will incur unnecessary charges. |
