Windows 2000 ERA Long Distance Setup

  1. Click on Start, Settings, Network and Dial-up Connections. Your screen should appear similar to this:

  2. Double-click on the Make a New Connection icon. This screen should appear:

  3. Click on Next.

  4. Select Dial-up to the Internet and click on Next. The Internet Connection Wizard will start

  5. Select "I want to setup my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)." Click on Next.

  6. Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem" and click on Next.

  7. Enter 865 in the Area code window and 946-8657 in the Telephone number window, select "Use area code and dialing rules" and click Next.

  8. Enter your NetID in the User name window and your NetID password in the Password window and click Next.

  9. Enter UT Calling Card in the Connection name window and click Next.

  10. Select No and click on Next.

  11. Uncheck the box next to "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish."
  12. Click Finish. Your Network and Dial-up Connections window should now show the new icon.

  13. Double-click on the UT Calling Card icon.

  14. Click the Properties button.

  15. Click the Rules button.

  17. Enter UT Calling Card in the Location name window and 800 in the Area Code window then click the Calling Card tab at the top.

  18. Click the New button

  19. Enter Qwest in the Calling card name window and your 14 digit PIN in the Personal Identification Numnber (PIN) window.
  20. Click the "Long Distance" tab at the top of the window.

  21. Enter 18008604444 in the Access number for long distance calls window.
  22. Click on the "Access Number" button.
  23. Click on the "Wait for Prompt" button.

  24. Select "Wait for a specific length of time", select 10 seconds and click on OK.

  25. Click the "PIN" button.
  26. Click the "Wait for Prompt" button.

  27. Select "Wait for a specific length of time", select 8 seconds and click OK.

  28. Click the "Destination Number" button.

  29. Select "Dial the area code" and click OK.
  30. Click OK 4 times.
