ERA Long Distance Setup Instructions

Windows 98

  1. Double-click on My Computer, then double-click on the Dial-Up Networking folder. Double-click on Make New Connection.
  2. Enter UTK-800 as the connection name; hit Next. Enter 865 under Area Code and 946-8657 under Telephone Number. Click on Next, then click on the Finish button.
  3. You should now see a new connection labeled UTK-800. Double click on this icon. Hit the Dial Properties button.
  4. Click on the New button; In the box labeled "I am dialing from:" type Quest 800.
  5. Check the boxes labeled "Dial as a long distance call" and "For long distance calls, use this calling card." Your screen should now appear something like this:

  6. Click on the Calling Card button. Click on the New button and enter UTK-800 Access in the space to the left.
  7. Under Personal ID Number enter the 14 digit PIN number on the front of your calling card.
  8. Enter 18008604444 under To use this calling card for long distance calls, I must dial this access number. Your screen should look like this:

  9. Click on the Long Distance Calls... button. Configure the following screen as shown below:

  10. Hit Ok 3 times. Enter your ph alias and password and attempt the dialing process.

Windows 95

  1. Double-click on My Computer, then double-click on the Dial-Up Networking folder. Double-click on Make New Connection.
  2. Enter UTK-800 as the connection name; hit Next. Enter 865 under Area Code and 946-8657 under Telephone Number. Click on Next, then click on the Finish button.
  3. You should now see a new connection labeled UTK-800. Double click on this icon. Hit the Dial Properties button.
  4. Place a check in the box labeled Dial using Calling Card. Click on the Change button.
  5. Click on the New button. Under Create a new calling card named: enter Quest 800. The screen will look like this:

  6. Click on the Advanced... button; Enter 18008604444,,,,,H,,,,FG in the boxes labeled Calls within the same area code and Long distance calls. Please be aware that the commas are very important. There must be 5 commas before the H and 4 following it. Your screen should appear like the following:

  7. Hit Close. In the box labeled Calling Card Number: enter the 14 digit PIN number on the front of your Quest calling card. Click OK twice. Enter your ph alias in the box labeled Username: and your ph password in the box labeled Password:. Your computer should now be setup for long distance access to the ERA dial-up service. Hit connect to initiate the connection.

Macintosh OS with Open Transport

  1. Go to your Apple Menu, select Control Panel, then select PPP. Enter the following under the space provided for Phone Number: 18008604444,,,,,[PIN],,,,4239468657. Substitute the 14 digit Personal Identification Number found on the front of your calling card for [PIN]. Your screen should look something like this:

  2. Enter your ph alias in the space labeled Name: and your ph password in the space labeled Password:. Click on the Connect button when you are ready to initiate the connection.
  3. When you close the PPP window, you will be asked if you want to save the configuration. Click on the Save button.
