How do I set up Mozilla Thunderbird for my Tmail/Exchange account for IMAP? |

Open Thunderbird. If this is your first account, Thunderbird will walk you through the setup wizard. If this is not, select File > New > Account.
![]() Select Email account and click Next. ![]() Enter your name and your email address and click Next. ![]() Select IMAP. For the incoming server, enter tmail.utk.edu. Click Next. ![]() Enter your user name, usually your NetID or the part before the "@" in your email address. Click Next. ![]() Enter a name for the account and click Next. ![]() The final Account Wizard screen should look something like this. Click Finish. ![]() At this point you may receive an error. That's okay, just close the error box. Go to Tools>Account Settings ![]() Find your account in the left-hand panel and highlight Server Settings. Find the box that says Use secure connection (SSL) and check it. ![]() Under Outgoing Server it should default to smtp.utk.edu ![]() **Note: If you are OFF-CAMPUS, you must use the smtp server of your service provider (Comcast, AT&T, etc.)! To add a non-UT server, click Add and enter the information for the correct server ![]() When done making changes, click OK After making the changes in the above step, Thunderbird will again attempt to contact the IMAP server and should succeed this time. It will now prompt you for your password. Enter your Tmail/Exchange password. |
