Why can't I connect Snow Leopard (Mac OS 10.6) to Exchange/Tmail using Mail, iCal or Address book?

The Exchange support in Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard requires that the back end Exchange server run Exchange 2007.  At this time, the University of Tennessee is using Exchange 2003.  At this time, we have no firm date as to when the upgrade to the newer version of the back end Exchange system will occur.
