There are two levels of visitor access available for wireless:  E-mail based access and Sponsored access.

For E-mail Based Access:

Any person visiting UTK is eligible for E-mail Based Access.  All you need to access the visitor network is an email address.  To access the visitor network, you should join the wireless network called, ut-visitor.  Supply your email address and you will be given access for one day.  You can continue to renew that access as needed.  Please note these accounts will be limited to a maximum of 256 KBps and will be handed a NAT address.

For Sponsored Access:

Users not affiliated with the University but sponsored by a department can request Sponsored Access.  Examples include vendors visiting UT, members of a conference, visiting scholars, etc.  Sponsored Access gives visitors more bandwidith than the E-mail Based Access.  To gain sponsored access, a person affiliated with UT must make the request to the OIT HelpDesk at 865 974-9900.  The HelpDesk will generate a username and password for the user.  The account will be good for a period of seven (7) days.

For more information, please contact the OIT HelpDesk at 974-9900.
