How do I Configure Windows Vista for use with ut-wpa2?

Note: These instructions are valid for Windows Vista with Service Pack 1.
  1. From the view available wireless networks window click Set up a connection or network.
     
  2. Select  Manually connect to a wireless network and click Next.
  3. Make sure your settings are as below. Verify that the Network name (SSID) is set to ut-wpa2, Security type is set to WPA2-Enterprise and Encryption type is set to AES.  Click Next
     
  4. Click on Change connection settings.
     
  5. Select the Security tab. Make your settings are as below. Verify that authentication method is set to Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP).
  6. Click the Settings... button then verify that the Select Authentication Method drop-down box is set to Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2).  Place a check into the box in front of UTN-USERFirst-Hardware
  7. Click the Configure button. Uncheck the check box labeled Automatically use my Windows Logon name and password (and domain if any).
  8. Click the OK or Close buttons on all of the windows.
  9. The networking icon in your system tray will pop up a bubble that tells you Additional information is required to connect to ut-wpa2.  Click on that bubble and provide your standard netid/password.
  10. In order to connect to the Internet, you must register your device on UT's network. Open Internet Explorer and try to open any page - such as google.com. You will be automatically redirected to the registration page - http://support.utk.edu/.
