The ProActive Network Scanner (SNAP) is an online tool to allow system owners and trusted individuals to submit requests to have systems automatically scanned with security tools. SNAP is located online at http://security.tennessee.edu/~snap.  Only systems located on the Knoxville campus or at the Institute of Agriculture can be scanned with this tool. Reports from SNAP scans essentially provide a blueprint for points of entry into a system and possible compromise vectors, they are considered confidential and should be protected as such.

A SNAP scan can be requested by a system owner, or their designee.  Certain trusted individuals, deemed “Stewards” can submit scans for any system. SNAP scans can be submitted at any time.  Unless the submitter is a Steward, the scan will not commence until approved by a Steward or ISO personnel.
