I've set up grading privileges for my Discussion Board. Now, how do I actually assign a grade?

Grade a Forum - you will be entering a grade for each student's participation in a particular forum
  1. From the main Discussion Board page, locate the forum that you have set to grade. You will see a little icon in the Grade column for that forum.  Click it.
  2. Here, you will see a list of your students. For each student, there is a list of the number of posts they’ve made in this forum, and a Grade button. Click the Grade button for a particular student - this brings up a list of all of the posts they’ve made in the forum.
  3. You can assess their participation and enter a grade, clicking Submit next to the grade field to submit the grade. You can then choose to Clear the grade, or submit a new grade in its place.

Grade Threads - you will be grading each student's participation in specific threads in a discussion forum

  1. From the main Discussion Board page, locate the forum that you have set for grading threads. Go into that forum and start a new thread.
  2. When you post a new thread, you have the option to set it for grading. Check the grade thread option, and enter the Points Possible. A new column will be created in the Grade Center based on this information.
  3. Each thread that is set for grading has an icon in the Grade column. If you click on it, you will see a list of students’ names, the number of posts in this particular thread, and a Grade button that will show you their posts and allow you to submit a grade.
