I heard I could change the thread status in the Discussion Board? How can I and why would I do that?

By default, threads are set to Published status, meaning that the thread is visible to the users and listed with the other active threads in the forum. To change the status of a thread, check the checkbox for a particular thread, use the Change status to dropdown menu to select a new status, and click Go.

- Published refers to currently active threads that are available to the users
- Hidden threads are no longer active, and are not visible to the users by default; you will not see them listed in the forum list, but they are still available to users, however, and can be found by searching for the specific, or all, hidden forums
- Unavailable threads are no longer active and can only be viewed by forum managers by modifying the display options for that page
- Locked/Unlocked - If a lock is enabled on a thread, users can still read the posts but no one can post replies to it. To lock a whole thread: select the first post of a thread. Use Unlock to remove a lock on a thread.
