Installing Malwarebytes |
Malwarebytes is a Spyware-removal tool.
- Go to http://download.cnet.com and search for “Malwarebytes.”

- Click “Download Now” and save the file to your desktop.
- Once the file has completely downloaded, find “mbam-setup.exe” on your desktop, then double-click and chose “Run” and “English” to begin the installation process. This will open the Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware Setup Wizard. Click “Next” to continue.
- Click the button to accept the license agreement and keep clicking “Next” and then “Install” to complete the Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware Setup Wizard. Once the process is complete, check the two boxes in the final window, then click “Finish.”

- The Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware scanner welcome screen will appear. Although you have already checked the box above to Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-malware, it is a good idea to check for any additional updates. You should also check for updates every time you run Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. To do this, choose the Update tab, then click on the “Check for Updates” button.

- To scan, click on the Scanner tab and choose “Perform full scan,” then click “Scan.”

- A window will appear for you to choose what drive(s) to scan. Choose “C:\” and click “Start Scan.” (Note: If you have partitioned your hard drive, you should select the letter of that drive, as well. If you have no idea what this means, you probably do not have a partitioned drive. If you have questions, please call the HelpDesk at 974.9900, for assistance.)

- The full scan can take some time! You can do other work while the scan is running. When the scan is complete, click the “OK” then “Show Results” to display all the objects found.

- Click “Remove Selected” after making sure that all boxes are checked and all applications are closed.

- A log file will pop up that gives you a full report of the scan and the actions taken. You may close this file by click the “X” in the top right corner. Then you will be asked to restart the computer to complete the removal process. Click “Yes” to continue. Please note that the startup of your system will likely take longer than normal. Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware is finishing the removal process before the desktop appears.
