Software Services

TCS now offers software installation services. We will make a best effort to load any software program deemed for academic use. We have created a general list of known academic software and will update the list as warranted. Although OIT will make a best effort to install any academic software package, this does not mean OIT will support all software installed. The following is a list of policies and procedures for software installation:

Software Support Policies and Procedures

  1. The customer must supply the original "factory pressed" software and printed license. The only exception being freeware that can be downloaded from the Internet. If the software license is in the form of a "OIT sorts form", we must follow whatever is marked on the sorts form in terms of installation.
  2. The computer must meet the minimum installation requirements of the software.
  3. The computer has to be in good working condition meaning all hardware components should be functioning.
  4. The customer must sit down with OIT personnel when dropping off their computer so that we can verify the computer is in good working condition and meets the minimum installation requirements of the software. Once the check-in process is complete, the customer must leave their computer in our possession.
  5. If the software requires certain terms and conditions to be accepted by the user, then we will provide the customer with a form (see Software Installation Form) they must sign agreeing to the terms and conditions of the software package. The form(s) will be kept on file at the OIT Computer Support Service Center for a period of three years.
  6. The customer is responsible for providing the physical key if the software requires it.
  7. If requesting freeware that can be downloaded from the Internet, we must be able to attach the customer's computer to the network in order to download the software.
  8. We will not load software from one CD and one license on multiple computers.
  9. After we complete the requested installation(s), we will perform a security check and install all security patches for that software to ensure the software installed will not cause the user's computer to be compromised.
  10. After the software is installed, the customer will be required to sit down with OIT personnel and verify that the software has been installed and is functioning and that their computer is in good working order.
