- Click the Airport menu item and select "Join Other Network..."
- You will be prompted for "Network Name:" and "Security:". For the "Network Name" parameter use "ut-wpa2" (without the quotation marks) and in the "Security" drop-down box select "WPA2 Enterprise"
- The window will expand to provide spaces for your "User Name" and "Password" as well as a "802.1X". Leave "User Name" and "Password" blank and leave "802.1X" on "Automatic". If you choose to select "Remember this network" it will be added to your "Preferred Networks" list under Network Preferences (select the Airport interface and the "Advanced" button).
- You will be prompted in a second window for a "User Name" and "Password". This is a different prompt from the first. The first is to setup an 802.1X profile for OS X (which will not work for non-UTK users such as UTHSC) while this second prompt is for authentication purposes.
Your "User Name" here will consists of two portions separated by a '\'. The first portion is your campus and the second is your netid. For example a Knoxville campus user with netid "volsfan" would provide "UTK\volsfan" (without the quotation marks) while a UTHSC (School of Pharmacy) student with netid "pharm" would provide "UTHSC\pharm" (without the quotation marks). Your password should be your standard password. Do not select "Only use this password once".
- You should the be authenticated and associated to ut-wpa2. Check this by clicking the Airport menu item once more:
- In order to connect to the Internet, you must register your device on UT's network. Open Safari and try to open any page - such as google.com.
