Effective February 5, 2007, hardware orders to Gateway will be handled by each department rather than through OIT's Business Office. This process change does not replace any internal ordering processes that may exist within your department or unit. NOTE: AS OF FEBRUARY 5, 2007, DO NOT FAX TO 865/974-2050.
Open A Gateway Account
If you have not establish your own unique Gateway account then at some point while you are creating a quotation, you will be asked to create a user account. Use the following steps:CREATE A USER ACCOUNT (when prompted)
- Account Name: enter utk in lowercase
- Account Password: enter gateway in lowercase
CREATE MY USER ACCOUNT (when prompted)
- Username: create a unique user name
- Password: create a your own password
- Confirm Password: re-enter the above password
- E-Mail Address:
- First Name:
- Last Name:
- Phone Number
How To Order Gateway Equipment
The procedure includes: configuring the desired computer, creating and saving a quote, obtaining permission to purchase through your normal departmental processes and releasing the quote directly to Gateway. Once Gateway has received the quote, the individual releasing the quote will receive an acknowledgement from Gateway with a Gateway order number for tracking. For special pricing on large quantities, please contact the vendor sales representative.From the Hardware Purchases website use the following steps:
Configure Gateway Computer Equipment on-line.
- Under Gateway Products select the family of systems in which you are interested.
- Push the "customize it" button.
- Choose any options you wish to add to this configuration.
- Push the "update price" button at the bottom of the page.
- Push the "quote it" button at the bottom of the page.
- Enter a quote name up to 25 characters (ie. system type and date).
- Enter any comments as necessary.
- Push the "save as quote" button at the bottom of the page.
- Push the "print quote" button and a printable quotation will appear.
- Print the resulting quote using the print option on your internet browser.
- Once your have verified the configuration of your order, submit your quote to Gateway for processing.

You should receive an e-mail confirming your order directly from Gateway. If you do not, contact the vendor to confirm that your order was received.
