Netscape IMAP Setup

  1. With Netscape open, click on the Mail button.

  2. The Account Wizard will open. Select Email Account and click Next.

  3. Enter your name and your email address. Your email address will be the same as your NetID followed by @utk.edu. Click Next.

  4. Select IMAP. For incoming server, enter tmail.utk.edu. For outgoing server, enter smtp.utk.edu. Click Next.

  5. Enter your username. This should be the same as your NetID. Click Next.

  6. Enter a name for your account, which is how it will appear in the folder tree. Click Next.

  7. Your final screen should look something like this. Click Finish.

  8. At this point, your account will fail to connect to tmail.utk.edu. This is because SSL is not yet enabled for the incoming connection. Click on Edit in the menu and select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings.

  9. Find your account in the left-hand pane. Expand it and highlight Server Settings. Check Use secure connection (SSL). Click OK.

  10. Click Get Msgs.

  11. When prompted, enter your password and click OK.

  12. Your account should now connect and your folder tree should propagate.
