Downloading Real's Media Player - Not Sure If Installed

Use these download and installation instructions if you are not sure if you have ever installed a RealPlayer on your PC. For simplicity the instructions listed below are for downloading using Internet Explorer. The dialog screens will be different if you are using another browser.

1. Go to the Real home page. Look for the yellow button labeled “Download RealPlayer” and click on it.

2. Now look for the words “Download Free Player” in blue at the bottom right of the page. Click anywhere on these words in blue to download the free player. IMPORTANT: Do NOT click on either of the yellow “Try SuperPass Free” button. That will download the subscription version.

3. A page entitled “Thanks for choosing RealPlayer for Windows” will appear. Look for the blue button in the middle of the page labeled “Restart Download”. Click on this button.

4. An advertising page for Real Products will appear, overlaid immediately with a file download window. Click on the “Open” button in the file download window to start the download. The download should take approximately 3-4 minutes on a high-speed connection.

5. When the download is complete you should see the “RealPlayer Setup” window appear showing the Licensing Agreement information. Click on the “Accept” button.

6. The page entitled “Select program location and desktop settings” should appear. This screen shows you where the software will be installed and lists the various ways you can access the player on your PC. Leave everything alone and click on the “Next” button.

7. If an existing version of the RealPlayer installer is found on your system you should see a small window asking if the old version may be deleted. Click on the "ok" button. You may also be asked to close your browser before installation begin. If so, click on the "ok" button.

8. Installation will begin and take about two minutes. When finished the “Default Media Player” window should appear. Leave everything alone and click on the “Finish” button.

9. A “Sign In” window may be displayed. You will be asked to provide a login profile name and a password of your choice. If this is your first time to load RealPlayer click on the “Click here” line for first time registrations and follow the instructions. If you have registered previously, enter your email address and password and click on the “Sign In” button at the bottom. If the same screen is displayed again, just click on the “Sign In” button once more (it appears to be a bug in their log-in script).

10.The “Confirm your settings” window should appear. It will ask you to confirm your country, language, and zip code. Select “United States” (default), “English” (default), and enter your zip code. Click on the “Confirm” button.

11. The “Choose your RealPlayer setup” window should appear next. Click on the “Basic Setup” radio button and then click the “Continue” button. IMPORTANT: Do NOT choose the “Premium Setup” radio button – you must pay a $20 fee for the premium player.

12. After about 30 seconds the RealOne Player will appear, along with a brief audio advertisement. Congratulations! The installation is complete! Close the player by clicking on the “X” in the upper right corner of the player.

NOTE: We recommend that you install/upgrade your copy of Real Player well before the day of the webcast you plan to watch. If you do have problems during the installation contact the Technology Consulting and Support Help Desk at (865) 974-9800, or complete the HelpDesk Contact Form.

On The Day Of The Webcast

When you’re ready to watch one of the live webcasts, open your browser and go to the Web Events page. Look for the section entitled “Today’s Web Events” and click on the line that says “Click here for today’s webcast”. The RealPlayer will automatically open and you will be connected to the live webcast.
