Welcome to UT's Computer-Based Training

NOTICE: New E-Learning Substitutions! EOD has made changes to the e-learning classes that substitute for their training classes. They have reduced the total hours for the e-learning classes in order to make them more accessible to participants. Please visit EOD's e-learning information page to view the new substitutions. The popular EOD employee course catalog TRAINING PAGES is also online.

OLD NEWS: IT e-learning courses will only be provided under the University Microsoft Campus Agreement starting October 2009. Please plan to complete any SkillSoft IT course by that time. Please see http://oit.utk.edu/training.php for current training options and access to Microsoft IT E-learning. The EOD and OSHA courses will continue to be provided by SkillSoft for UT Faculty and Staff.

What is CBT?

Computer-Based Training (CBT) is an interactive method of learning that provides a series of self-paced, hands-on, web-based courses. CBT offers managerial, and supervisory curricula as well as environmental, safety and health, and transportation curricula. Managerial and Supervisory curricula contain courses for Business Skills, Human Resource, and Workplace Compliance. Some of these courses include Communication, Diversity, Leadership, and Team Building. These courses for free to UT faculty and staff. The environmental, safety and health, and transportation curricula offers awide selection of safety courses including laser safety, back safety, bloodborne pathogens, and even pandemic flu awareness. There are hundreds of courses available.(Course Listing)

Why should I take CBT?

CBT is an easy, fun, and powerful tool for learning essential communication, supervisory and safety skills. The built in CBT search function allows you to locate courses on a particular topic. CBT is also convenient and extremely flexible. Depending on your knowledge of the topic being covered, you can choose to take the course from the beging or test yourself with the pretests and just take the parts you are weak in. Also, you can move through the CBT courses at your own pace, because you do not have to complete all of a course in one session. You can bookmark where you stop and pick up at the same place when you start the CBT course again.

If you choose to take the test at the end of your training and score at least 70%, then you can print a certificate online which will found under your My Report. By acquiring certificates, you can add these certified computer skills to your resume or vita. The CBT courses can also be used to meet UT's HR 128 training requirement.
