Welcome to OIT's Computer-Based Training

Computer-Based Training (CBT) is an interactive method of learning that provides a series of self-paced, hands-on, web-based courses. CBT offers technology, managerial, and supervisory curricula. Technology curricula contain courses for IT beginners and IT professionals. Technology courses include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.), Macromedia, Adobe, Security, Internet (Internet basics, How to create a Web page, etc.), and more advanced topics such as JavaScript, C , LINUX, Servers, and open systems. Managerial and Supervisory curricula contain courses for Business Skills, Human Resource, and Workplace Compliance. Some of these courses include Communication, Diversity, Leadership, and Team Building. OIT provides these courses for free to UT students, faculty, and staff. There are hundreds of courses available. Why should I take CBT?

CBT is an easy, fun, and powerful tool for learning essential computer skills. The CBT search function allows you to locate courses on a particular topic. Some courses have subject matter experts available 24/7. Practice tests that mimic certification exams are available. CBT is also convenient and extremely flexible. Depending on your knowledge of the topic being covered, you can choose beginning, intermediate, advanced, or power user levels of training. Or, if you want to know how to do something specific, you can select that one skill. For example, if you want to know how to create a table in Microsoft Word, then you navigate to that section. Also, you can move through the CBT courses at your own pace, because you do not have to complete all of a course in one session. You can bookmark where you stop and pick up at the same place when you start the CBT course again.

If you choose to take the test at the end of your training and score at least 70%, then you can print a certificate online or request a certificate of successful completion. By acquiring certificates, you can add these certified computer skills to your resume or vita. The CBT courses can also be used to meet UT's HR 128 training requirement.
