Introduction
In August of 2005 the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy
Act, which changes the dates of both the start and end of daylight saving time
(DST). When this law goes into effect in 2007, DST will start three weeks
earlier (2:00 A.M. on the
second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than
what had traditionally occurred.
Impact
The changes to DST will impact calendar items in Tmail,
as well as other programs that rely on daylight savings time. If you do not follow the steps below,
your calendar appointments and reminders will be incorrect once DST goes into
effect.
How to Minimize the Impact of the DST
Change
- When organizing a meeting during the
extended DST period, type the correct meeting time in the subject line or body
of the message (for example, Project Planning Meeting at 8:30 A.M.).
- Consider any appointments and meetings in the
extended DST period (March 11 – April 1 & Oct 28 – Nov 4) to be
suspect. When in doubt, verify the correct time with the organizer.
- Follow the steps below very carefully.
- Did we mention, consider any appointments and
meetings in the extended DST period to be suspect. When in doubt, verify the correct time
with the organizer.
